The Access Pro Bono Dugald Christie Award recognizes an individual Canadian or a Canadian organization that has made an outstanding contribution to the provision of free legal services. The awards committee evaluates nominations on the basis of nominees’ demonstrated leadership and activities to improving access to justice in their local area, in addition to nominees’ commitment to free legal service work on behalf of individual clients, communities, or charitable organizations.

The statue was designed by Mr. Jimmy Yan and rendered by Mrs. Selma Tahberer.

Mr. Dale Darychuk is one of our most active pro bono lawyers and helped over 60 individual clients in 2010.

“When we do pro bono work, we seek the best for our clients, but in doing so we are also seeking justice for the public, for all of us. It is not enough for us to have a legal system that tends to the needs and desires of those who have the financial means, the education, the physical and the mental health to navigate and persevere through the labyrinth of our laws. We lawyers are members of a noble profession. It is in the very best tradition of our calling that we provide our services for the public good.”
